Birding in the mountains of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Welcome to our website!

Come bird with us

We arrange expeditions for groups or individual birders.

There are over 750 bird species recorded in our state, with dozens of endemic species from Campos Rupestres, Atlantic Rainforest, Cerrado and Caatinga biomes, especially birds of mountaintops.

One of our most recommended destinations is Serra do Cipó National Park and vicinity, where the birder has the opportunity to spot all three species endemic to the mountains of the southern Espinhaço Range, in Minas Gerais: Cipo Canastero, Hyacinth Visorbearer and the newly discovered Cipo Cinclodes, while enjoying a place of unique beauty.

Read about our route at Serra do Cipó, where three Brazilian biomes meet each other among mountains and waterfalls, and which includes endemic species from all of them!

A little more information

It is said that Minas Gerais has a heart of gold, beating in a chest of iron. The state is known for its enormous reserves of a noticeable variety of mineral resources. But our treasures go far beyond metal: gorgeous biodiversity lies among the folds of our foothills and mountaintops.

Belo Horizonte – the capital of the state – is just an hour by car from one of the most privileged Brazilian birding spots, with dozens of endemic species from three different biomes. In the field, we count on the experience of a great team of local ornithologists.

The city will host matches of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 ®, FIFA World Cup 2014 ®, and the Olympics 2016, and thus it is a hot destination for the next years.

If you are planning to come to Brazil, place the unique birds of our serras among your priorities. Book your birding trip with us now, and ensure great lifers and suitable moments while birdwatching in the mountains of Minas Gerais, during all those sport competitions.

We also arrange trips to two other highly sought birdwatching destinations in Minas Gerais: the Caraça Sanctuary and Serra da Canastra National Park.

If you are planning to visit Minas Gerais and would like to make a guided tour to some of the hottest spots for watching birds in our state, please contact us.
